What We’re Reading
We say we want community, yet one of the most crucial elements of long-lasting, successful communities is also one of the most challenging to navigate: healthy conflict.
In The Art of Fighting (Riverhead Books, 2026), experienced conflict facilitator Priya Parker explains that fighting is necessary to form and grow relationships. Conflict is normal, she says, and even the highest-functioning, “good” groups of people fight.
Whether it’s in an online forum or a city council meeting, a dinner party or a group text thread, it can feel like there are more opportunities for disputes than ever before. Parker helps readers understand that healthy conflict doesn’t mean no conflict, instead describing how a good fight might just be the most fruitful way forward.
